China and Kenya Sign Framework Agreement on Jointly Developing an Economic Partnership

On April 24, witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kenyan President William Ruto during his state visit to China, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi signed the Framework Agreement on Jointly Developing an Economic Partnership between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Kenya (hereinafter referred to as the "Framework Agreement") in Beijing.

According to the Framework Agreement, both sides will work together to promote the development of manufacturing and the transformation and upgrading of agriculture in African countries, with the aim of enhancing their competitiveness in global markets and facilitating deeper integration into the global economy. The signing of the Framework Agreement marks an important step in implementing the outcomes of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, and provides a long-term, stable, and predictable institutional foundation for China–Kenya trade and investment cooperation.
