Ecuador

Ecuador is located in the northwest of South America. It is bordered by Colombia in the northeast, Peru in the southeast, and the Pacific Ocean in the west. Ecuador has four types of terrain throughout its territory: the western coastal area, the central mountainous area, the eastern Amazon River basin area, and the Galapagos Islands. The Andes Mountains run through the north and south. The equator crosses the northern part of the country (the word "Ecuador" means "equator" in Spanish), so it is known as the "country on the equator."
