Wanhua Chemical has made significant progress on another lithium iron phosphate (LFP) industrial chain project. Recently, the Administrative Examination and Approval Service Bureau of Haiyang, Shandong Province, issued a pre-approval public notice on the *Construction Project Planning Permit* for the air separation unit and integrated warehouse of the company's Green Power Industrial Park Phase I 100,000-ton-per-year LFP project, signaling that construction is about to enter a new stage.
The project was officially signed in February and received environmental assessment approval two months later. It is now accelerating and, once operational, is expected to further strengthen Wanhua Chemical's supply capacity for battery materials, meeting the rapidly growing demand of customers in a timely manner.
According to the plan, the project will include one new 100,000 t/y battery-grade LFP facility, consisting of four 25,000 t/y production lines, along with supporting utilities and environmental protection facilities. The project is scheduled to begin operations in mid-2026. Notably, it will adopt Wanhua Chemical's self-developed, next-generation LFP sintering technology, aimed at expediting the commercialization of fourth- and fifth-generation LFP products and leading technological advancements in the field.
Lithium-ion batteries fundamentally convert chemical energy into electrical energy. As a chemical industry leader, Wanhua Chemical's core advantage lies in its integrated industrial layout.
Upstream, the company is accelerating the development of projects covering phosphoric acid, iron phosphate, and other key battery materials, aiming to build a complete chain from phosphate rock to lithium carbonate to cathode materials. Meanwhile, production capacity for PVDF, the core binder material for LFP cathodes, is also under planning.
Looking ahead, Wanhua Chemical plans to accelerate the construction of LFP, PVDF, and other battery material projects in 2025, continuing to establish a strong second growth curve for the company.
