The 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) will be held in three phases from April 15 to May 5, 2025, in Guangzhou, China. To ensure smooth customs clearance and provide comprehensive support services for the event, Guangzhou Customs issued two official documents on April 11: Facilitation Measures by Guangzhou Customs to Support the 137th China Import and Export Fair in 2025 and Customs Clearance Guidelines for the 137th Canton Fair by Guangzhou Customs.
The facilitation measures include 12 specific initiatives covering areas such as service optimization, policy support, and technological empowerment. These measures aim to streamline the fair-related business process through a unified online platform, simplify customs clearance for personnel and exhibits, offer one-stop on-site customs services, support companies participating from outside bonded zones, and implement preferential tax policies for imported exhibits. Together, these actions are designed to ensure efficient and seamless cross-border movement of people and goods during the event.
"These newly released guidelines represent a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of previous customs facilitation policies for the Canton Fair," said Tan Wu, a member of the Guangzhou Customs Communist Party Committee and Deputy Director General. "By outlining 12 targeted measures, we help businesses clearly understand policy continuity and innovations, enabling them to align their needs with the most relevant support. Moreover, on-site customs clearance and intellectual property rights protection services will enhance the one-stop service experience and support the export of concluded transactions."
Each phase of the upcoming fair will feature a 10,000-square-meter import exhibition area. More than 730 companies from over 50 countries and regions are expected to participate.
"As of April 11, we have seen the arrival of 71 batches of import exhibits, valued at approximately RMB 3.67 million," said Deng Qiang, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Customs Office under Guangzhou Customs. "These shipments have entered through Nansha Port, Jiaoxin Terminal, and Baiyun Airport via sea and air, originating from 13 countries and regions, including Portugal, Egypt, Poland, Bangladesh, and Pakistan."
During the event, Guangzhou Customs will set up a dedicated consultation desk at the Canton Fair venue, offering expert advice on customs procedures and technical trade measures. Both online and offline consultation services will be enhanced to improve the user experience, helping businesses make the most of the Canton Fair as a platform for global expansion, order fulfillment, and market development. These efforts aim to further promote the integration of trade and exhibition.
